In 2015, the Australian Government will be releasing a new Defence White Paper, reflecting the Government’s overall strategic, financial and broader policy priorities. Following the release of the 2015 White Paper, a new Defence Industry Policy Statement will be published to provide Defence industry with greater certainty about Government priorities and timeframes.

In anticipation of the release of these key strategy documents, the Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) is undertaking a review of the way in which we communicate with, and capture information from Australian defence industry. This will assist in enhancing how we inform industry of potential opportunities, as well as gather data on industry capabilities in support of the Australian Defence Force. As part of this initiative, the DMO website has also recently been revamped.

Along with the broader review and the DMO website upgrade, a decision has been made to close the Defence + Industry ePortal (ePortal), which will not be publicly accessible with effect from 1 December 2014. In making this decision, the DMO would like to reassure our industry partners that existing information contained in the database will be retained internally within the Department.

On account of the closure, the DMO is unable to accept any new company registrations from 1 December 2014. You may, however, wish to contact the Defence Business Access Office in your nearest state or territory, to obtain advice, information and guidance on doing business with Defence. Further information on Defence’ Business Access Offices is available here or free call to 1800 621 783.

Should you have any questions or wish to discuss the ePortal closure further, please contact aic.info@defence.gov.au.
